In Istanbul, scattered student protests
Turkish police used tear gas yesterday and arrested 50 students who demonstrated in Istanbul against Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday. NTV television footage showed police officers beating students and throwing tear gas grenades in one of the suburbs of Istanbul.
